Een muzikaal gesprek tussen de jongste Nederlandse Muziekprijs-laureaat ooit en de koningin van de barokviool: dat belooft synergie ten top! De blokfluit van Lucie Horsch en de viool van Rachel Podger vinden elkaar hier in een estafettespel op barokke noten en tijdloze volksmelodieën. Van Bach en Telemann tot de deuntjes uit John Playfords handboek The English Dancing Master: ernst en luim gaan in dit programma hand in hand.

‘Verbijsterende virtuositeit en buitengewone techniek,’ schreef voxBBC Music magazine over de Nederlandse blokfluitiste Lucie Horsch, die momenteel een bliksemcarrière maakt in binnen- en buitenland. De voormalige winnares van het Prinses Christina Concours (2012) treedt als soliste op met barokensembles en moderne orkesten. Voor haar eerste cd met muziek van Vivaldi ontving ze de Edison Klassiek Award 2017. Een tweede opname met werk van Bach, Sammartini en Couperin veroverde de eerste plaats in de klassieke hitlijsten van het Verenigd Koninkrijk, en leverde haar een OPUS KLASSIK-award op. In 2020 ontvangt ze de Nederlandse Muziekprijs, de hoogste onderscheiding die namens het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap wordt uitgereikt aan een klassiek musicus.

Rachel Podger is een van de meest toonaangevende vertolkers van barok en klassiek repertoire. De Sunday Times kroonde haar tot de ‘koningin van de barokviool’. In 2015 was ze de eerste vrouw die de prestigieuze Royal Academy of Music/Kohn Foundation Bach Prize ontving en in 2018 was ze Gramophone Artist of the Year. Podger werkt samen met gezelschappen als The English Concert, het Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, de Academy of Ancient Music, I Fagiolini, het Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Tafelmusik en Holland Baroque. Ze is oprichter en artistiek directeur van Brecon Baroque Festival en van haar ensemble Brecon Baroque. Voor Channel Classics nam ze onder andere Mozarts complete vioolsonates op. Podger is erelid van de Royal Academy of Music en doceert aan de Juilliard School in New York.

‘Staggering virtuosity and extraordinary technique’ wrote BBC Music Magazine about Dutch recorder player Lucie Horsch, who is currently making a lightning career at home and abroad. The former winner of the Princess Christina Competition (2012) performs as a soloist with baroque ensembles and modern orchestras. She received the Edison Classical Award 2017 for her first CD of music by Vivaldi. A second recording with works by Bach, Sammartini and Couperin rose to the very top of the UK classical charts, and received an OPUS KLASSIK award. In 2020, she receives the Nederlandse Muziekprijs (Dutch Music Award), the highest accolade awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to a musician working in the field of classical music.

Rachel Podger is one of the leading interpreters of baroque and classical repertoire. The Sunday Times crowned her the 'queen of the baroque violin'. In 2015, she was the first woman to receive the prestigious Royal Academy of Music/Kohn Foundation Bach Prize and in 2018 she was Gramophone Artist of the Year. Podger collaborates with ensembles such as The English Concert, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Academy of Ancient Music, I Fagiolini, the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Tafelmusik and Holland Baroque. She is founder and artistic director of Brecon Baroque Festival and of her ensemble Brecon Baroque. For Channel Classics, she recorded Mozart's complete violin sonatas, among other albums. Podger is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music and teaches at the Juilliard School in New York.
